Location: Round Rock Public Library, Meeting Room A+B
Time: Saturday, August 24th 2:00-3:30pm
AI advancements have led to more sophisticated online scams, with scammers using personalized phishing attempts to impersonate legitimate individuals. In 2023, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reported 880,418 internet crime complaints in the U.S. to Americans over the age of 60, with losses exceeding $12.5 billion, a 22% increase from 2022 (IC3, 2023). Many cases go unreported due to shame and confusion, indicating higher actual numbers.
Join us August 24th from 2:00 - 3:30pm at the Round Rock Public Library, Meeting Room A+B, First Floor, where we will host a free, 90-minute workshop teaching you how to recognize and protect yourself from scams, including safe and practical smartphone and password usage. This workshop mixes lectures with Q&A, supplemented by take-home workbooks for ongoing education.
